MY STORY
Hi, I am Chris Fletcher.
First, I want to say, “I am NOT a musician; I am a music lover!” At 21, I lived in Philadelphia, where I started going out to see my friend’s band and before I knew it I was working the merch table, sending monthly newsletters and convincing car-loads of people to see the bands I liked. By the age of 24, I was managing 3 bands… all of this without the internet, a college course or a good book to follow! And so, I have been working with DIY musicians for most of my life!
Twenty years ago, I moved to Los Angeles to work full time in the music business. I have held many positions including being a VP of a small label for 7 years, was a personal assistant to a popular Voiceover personality, been a publicist for way too many bands to count, was an internship coordinator for a music college placing 500 students into the right mentor situation and, my most important duty, being a music manager. I have worked with well over 30 music acts managing their careers, booking tours, landing endorsements, sponsorships and deals for my clients.
Currently, I work with 2 multi-platinum songwriter who perform over 100 dates a year, a Global Music award-winning Brazilian musician releasing music both in Portuguese & English, teach in the music business program at Musicians Institute and regularly consult with a number of DIY artists. I am the person that likes working with new DIY musicians to find personal ‘out of the box’ ideas that draws an audience, which leads to making money with music.

In 2014, I started an educational network called MusicBizMentors with the mission to provide affordable music business programs specifically for DIY musicians. As we grow, our offerings are getting more diverse. From meeting hundreds of DIY musicians through this network and developing and teaching courses, especially to DIY artists, the question from musicians always goes back to: “How can I make money with my music?” I have been helping DIY musician for over 20 years to take their music skills that develop into a making money career.
All of this as lead me to develop the MBM DIY Musician Network!
